Contributing to someone's Guest Journal
Someone has invited you to add to their journal — a wedding, a reunion, a holiday or a table shared. Here is how contributing works, and how to follow the journal afterwards.
- 1
Scan the QR code on the card or open the link you were sent. If you were given a code, you can type it with or without the dashes.
- 2
Add your photographs and words, then enter your name and email and choose how you would like to be credited.
- 3
Check the email we send you and tap Confirm. There is no code to type. Your contribution is sent to the author only after you confirm; the link works once and lasts 24 hours.
- 4
The author reviews every contribution privately before choosing what goes into the journal. Nothing you send is published automatically.
- 5
To follow the journal, choose Follow this journal after confirming, or create a free account with the same email. Kinship will then show Journals I contributed to, with your own contributions and whether each was accepted.
- 6
While the author is building the journal it shows as In progress. When they publish it and share a read link, you receive a notice by email, and in the app if you are a member, with a link to read it.
Good to know
- The author may send updates or requests to everyone who contributed. Your email address is never shown to them in the finished journal or to other contributors.
- Submitted contributions cannot be edited. To correct something, send a new contribution, or use the removal request link to ask the author to remove it.
- Showing your contribution publicly is a separate permission from including it in the journal. A private journal's pages are never shown to you or anyone else.
- Members can sign in with a password or ask for an emailed sign-in link instead.
